Aurelia Golf Club celebrates 45 years

Monday, July 28, 2008

The Aurelia golf club turns 45 years old this summer and several special events have or will take place to commemorate this anniversary.

The biggest event will be on Saturday August 16, when club members will participate in a 45th anniversary tournament.

The Golf Club has been managed by Dian Anderson since September 2006, and has become a hub of Aurelia social activity. The clubhouse is a frequent gathering spot after Friday night high school football games, for example, where spirited games of Texas Hold 'Em, post-game conversations and conversation in general take place, often accompanied by pizza or adult beverages. The Golf Club has also been hosting community brunches once a month during the summers, and Anderson hopes to make that a year-round activity. Club members serve the delicious food and beverages at the brunches, and all proceeds from the free will donations go to the Aurelia Golf Club.

The clubhouse, which has been expanded several times over the club's 45 year history, had another additiion this year with an outside patio added, allowing people to enjoy the weather and watch a little golf, as golfers tee off on the first hole or finish up on the ninth.
