Area football coaches

With Iowa high school football practices officially beginning Monday August 11, area coaches have been hard at it directing pre-season camps and preparing strategies and game plans for the 2008 season.

Among the area head football coaches this season are, left to right, Neil Phipps and Kurt Reynolds of Cherokee, former varsity assitants; Brad Cave of Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn, former varsity assistant; and veterans Myron Radke and assistant Grant Peckenschneider of Aurelia.

River Valley has a new head coach in Brian Winkler, a former Galva-Holstein assistant; G-H has merged with Schaller-Crestland to form Buffalo Ridge and will be coached by former S-C coach Dale Tokheim and former G-H coach Butch Faulkenberry; and South O'Brien will be coached by former assistant Mark Fuhrman and veteran Dana Vige.
