Little did Cherokee resident Ed Otto know that when he became a volunteer for Ducks Unlimited over 15 years ago that he would be walking away with $500 in groceries and gas from Hy-Vee.

Otto's name was recently drawn as the winner of the Cherokee County Little Sioux Chapter of Ducks Unlimited Grand Summer Give-Away.

Otto said "It is great to be a part of the Ducks Unlimited here in Cherokee. Our organization has spent over $10 million conserving and assisted in restoring over 90,000 acres across Iowa."

Kevin Christensen, chairman of the Cherokee County Little Sioux Chapter of Ducks Unlimited Committee, said "The support that Hy-Vee provided to Ducks Unlimited is greatly appreciated. You could not find two better partners than Hy-Vee, which is one of Iowa's greatest grocery stores, and Ducks Unlimited, which is the world's largest wetlands, waterfowl and wildlife conservation organization."

Christensen went on to say "The majority of DU's revenues are generated by one million supporters and members through our banquets like the one scheduled for October 11 at the Western Iowa Tech Community College Conference Center here in Cherokee. Be sure to join us for a great dinner, exciting prizes, and a good time while you help support wetland conservation."
