Pilot Rock Chapter DAR Awards scholarships

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

Florence Frisbie's bequest to the Pilot Rock DAR allowed the Chapter to give scholarships to 14 recipients in 2008.

Five graduating seniors from area high schools and selected by their respective school's scholarship committee received $200 each.

These students were Jodi Husman form Aurelia High School, Kelesey Essick from Cherokee Washington High School, Adam Dreeszwn from Galva-Holstein High School, Alissa Bradey from Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn High School and Trisha Todd from River Valley High School.

Eight descendants of the Pilot Rock Chapter members who received scholarships were Michael Haight, ReNae Patterson, Nash Eickholt, Nicole Seggerman, Alex Nagel, Leah Kai, Rachel Mugge and Lucas Lehr.

In addition Marcia Pinkerton received a Member Scholarship. All of the scholarships were awarded to assist the recipients to further their education in a variety of fields.

Anyone who is interested in applying for a DAR Scholarship, and who is eligible in one of the three above categories, may contact their high school guidance counselor or Pilot Rock DAR Chapter Regent Barbara Ivarson in March of 2009.
