The highlight of the day was the donation of almost $400 to Chase Wiese, Holzhauer Motor's first baseman. Earlier this summer, Chase's family's house burned down, and the benefit games were suggested by his teammate Adam Pitts and his mother, Kelly Pitts. Hy -Vee food store also donated two cases of Chase's favorite 'Orange Soda Pop' to the cause.
The post benefit game featured the 8th grade girls against the 8th grade boys in fast-pitch softball. Last year the boys los,t 9-7.. but this year, with the help of Mason Pitts in right field, the boys prevailed by a score of 11-10 in 6 innings. Mason is a 4th grader and his fielding and batting services were required because several of the 8th grade boys didn't show up for the game.
Marty Agnitsch donated his umpiring services behind the plate, Quinn Woods acted as treasurer for the event, John Woods and Todd Larson coached the girls and Dan Seliger coached the boys. Kyle Shuck, Jordan Ogren, Sofia Seliger and Cole Renkin collected tickets and donations at the gate.
