The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met in the lower level of the Cherokee Courthouse on Sept. 2 for their regular meeting. The Board approved a purchase agreement with Premier Elections Equipment for eight Voter Assist Terminals, to be compliant with federal handicap requirements. The State of Iowa will pay for the new ballot marking devices, which are now required to be used in all elections.
In other business, Dave Shananhan, County Engineer, presented the Board with two utility permits for the Board's consideration. The Board approved the permit for MidAmerican on F Ave and 470th St. in Marcus Township, and an overhead permit for Iowa Lakes Electric Coop. on W Ave. and 630th St. in Diamond Township.
Shananhan then reviewed the county's five-year construction plan with the Board.
Other business discussed by the Board was the release of the Emergency Housing Forgiveable Loan for Billie R. Taggart's property in Carroll County.
