Sutherland celebrates 125 years

The community of Sutherland celebrated its Quasquicentennial during the weekend of Aug. 29th. The four-day event culminated on Labor Day with the Sutherland Quasquicentennial parade, which drew large numbers of area residents to wish the town a happy birthday. Photos by Mike Leckband

On the Midway - The City Park in Sutherland was transformed during the Quasquicentennial celebration this weekend. There was a Midway with games, food stands, rides and an arcade, which brought a carnival atmosphere to the 125-year celebration.
Sutherland spectacle - Crowds of people aligned both sides of the Second St. in downtown Sutherland on Sunday Aug. 31 to bear witness to the annual Burnout Rally held during Labor Day Weekend in Sutherland.
Tears of a clown - No one should look sad during an event celebrating a community's 125 birthday but this sad looking clown was part of a cavalcade of merry mirth makers that delighted onlookers during the Sutherland Quasquicentennial parade.
Marching on - Members of the American Legion Post #152 were front and center during the Sutherland Quasquicentennial parade held in Sutherland on Labor Day.
