G-H volleyball team nicks WC

HOLSTEIN - Visiting Woodbury Central pushed rated Galva-Holstein to the wall here on Sept. 4 , before the Lady Pirates sustained in the fifth game to eke out an exciting 3-2 volleyball victory.

G-H won by game scores of 20-25, 25-13, 25-9, 17-25, 15-11.

The winners were 96-111 and 46 kills in hitting, and served 93-99 with a dozen aces. Team digs totaled 31, and assists 44.

Heather Joslin led the Pirates in kills with 17, and Brooke Wiese tallied 10. Lanae Broesder led G-H in assists with 41, and Victorial Andresen led in ace serves with four. Lindsey Joslin led the Pirates in digs with seven, and Broesder added six. Brandi Wagoner led in block assists with six.

"We served very well tonight," said G-H coach Scott Mitchell. "We were kind of on our heels in the first game and it didn't help when Lindsey Joslin sprained her ankle in the first game.

"I thought our younger girls did a good job tonight in a pressure situation aganst a very good Woodbury Central team. When we passed the ball and communicated, we looked pretty good."

The G-H JV and freshman squads also won, each by 3-0 scores.
