Galva-Holstein girls win tough match over RV

HOLSTEIN - Galva-Holstein dropped the first game, but battled back to defeat River Valley 20-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-22 in hotly-contested volleyball action here on Sept. 11.

The Lady Pirates were 103-127 in hitting for the match, with 48 kills. G-H served 75-82 for 92 percent, tallied 58 team digs, and 46 assists.

Heather Joslin and Brooke Wiese were kill leaders for G-H with 19 and 13, respectively, and Lanae Broesder led G-H in assists with 46.

Dig leaders included Lindsey Joslin 14, and Ashley Buell 15. Buell also had two ace serves.

"We played inconsistently tonight," said G-H coach Scott Mitchell. "We let a lot of balls drop because of a lack of communication. We will need to fix that if we want to continue to improve. River Valley played a good match and definitely out-hustled us on the court.

The G-H freshmen and also the JV teams won by 3-0 scores.
