Aganst L-B, Katie Tesch led in kills with six, while Chelsea Rohrs had three. Christine Haden led in serves with a 7-8 game and four aces, followed by Miranda Kelleher 6-6 and an ace, Rohrs 5-6 and two aces, Tesch 3-5 with an ace, and Taylor Julian 3-5 with an ace. Kari Wester was 4-4. Wester also led in assists with six, and Julian totaled three. Haden had 11 digs to lead that category, and Rohrs had six.

"This was an important win," said SOS coach Denise Erdmann. "To start the day with a win, even though we didn't play our best, is big."

Against River Valley, Rohrs led in kills with four, and Haden and Tesch each tallied two. Haden was serve leader with a 9-11 match, while Amber Hain was 7-7 with two aces, Julian 6-7 with two aces, Kelleher 5-6, ZWester 4-6, Rohrs 4-4, and Tesch 3-5. Hain led in assists with four, and Julian added two. Tesch had 11 digs to lead that department, and Haden and Kelleher each registered 10, and Rohrs eight.

"We played more consistently in this match. We were able to take advantage of River Valley's errors and turn them into points," said coach Erdmann.

In the loss to Hinton, Karlee Kunkel led in kills with two. Kelleher was 7-9 serving, followed by Hain and Haden each 3-3, and Wester 3-4. Julian had two assists to lead that category, and Tesch tallied 10 digs, and Haden eight.

"Our serving hurt our chances to score points in this match," said Erdmann. "Add that to our low kill numbers and the result is we ddn't score enough points to win."

In the loss to Woodbury Central, Kunkel led in kills with six, and Rohrs had three. Wester was 10-10 serving, followed by Haden 6-6 and three aces, Julian 5-6, Kelleher 5-7, and Rohrs 3-6. Julian led in assists with six, and Hain added four. Haden had 20 digs, and Rohrs 11.

"We played fairly consistent in game one," said Erdmann. "We got a bit flustered in game two. Unfortunately, we couldn't get game three."

South O'Brien plays at Akron-Westfield Tuesday in War Eagle Conference action.
