SLOAN -- The Galva-Holstein Lady Pirates defeated Westwood in a Western Athletic Conference volleyball match here on Sept. 23, downing the Rebels in 4 games, 25-17,15-25, 25-18, 25-21. The Lady Pirates' win boosted their season mark to 11-6 (4-1 in conference play).
Brooke Wiese had 16 kills on the night and Heather Joslin 12, to lead G-H's attack. Joslin also had 17 digs, while Ashley Buell led the team in that category with 25. Brooke Wiese had 4 of the team's 5 ace serves, and Brandi Wagoner had 6 of the team's 16 blocks. Lane Broesder had 44 assists to pace the team's setters.
G-H coach Scott Mitchell said his team "played well at times and passed the ball well for the most part," and also added that the team showed very good effort and defense, which allowed them to win the long rallies.

The Galva-Holstein JV also won, 2 games to 1, lifting their season mark to 9-1, and the freshmen won 3 games to none, to give them a spotless 9-0 record.
