SPENCER - A talented Spencer volleyball team swept a hotly-contested match 3-0 from Cherokee here on Sept. 23, claiming game scores of 25-23, 25-23, 25-12.
Kelsie Peterson led Cherokee in spiking with a 16-26 effort and six kills, while Julie Miller was 11-17 with two kills, Bailey English 4-7 with one kill, and Misty Bruhn 7-10 with two kills.
Bruhn led in serving with a 13-13 night and three aces, followed by Miller 8-9 and an ace, and Peterson 6-8. Peterson paced the WHS club in digs with 14-16, and Bruhn was 4-6.

"We played tough the first two games," noted Cherokee coach Sherry Miller. "We didn't have faith the third game. We gave up too easy. We have to learn how to be fighters.
"Even though we lost, there was team improvement. We just need to keep it going."
