The scholarship, awarded to Washington High School graduated, provides money for tuition over a four-year period, providing the recipient is a full-time student at an accredited college, vocational school or other post-high school institution. A grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 must be maintained.
The parameters of the Dr. John W. Dewar Scholarship Fund, established in 1992, were determined in the will of the late Lois M. Dewar. Selections are made by a scholarship committee appointed by the superintendent of schools. The award is based on academic achievement and financial need.
Wilson is attending the University of Northern Iowa. He is the son of Jeff and Michelle Wilson.
