The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday Sept. 23 at the Cherokee County Courthouse for their regular meeting.
Dave Shanahan, County Engineer, addressed the Board for approval of plans for the L56 (River Road) from Keith Walker's Corner of L56 and 580th St. to Quimby. The Board approved the overlay and repair plans and Chairman Jeff Simonsen signed the plans.
Then the Board passed resolution # 2008-05 authorizing the County Engineer to act as the Board's representative all public work projects in the county to sign final pay estimates for said projects.
Shanahan and the Board the discussed general business. Shanahan informed the Board that the price of salt has gone up in price $8 a ton higher than last year's salt.
Shanahan also informed the Board his plan to mow one more time around some of the county roads that are getting overgrown. Shanahan estimated 20 to 25 percent of the county ditches need mowed one more time. Shanahan added that he also has to get-out cut down some of the smaller trees that have growing in area ditches.
The Board then took a short recess to go and inspect the new ambulance at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center. When the meeting resumed the Board approved a wage authorization for Kady Brauninger of the County Auditor's office, Brauninger has recently completed her six-month probation period and will receive a extra 40 cent an hour.
