They met last Wednesday at the Cherokee Community Center to prepare brochures for the fund drive. According to the fund drive chairman, Chuck Stubbe, "Many of these organization couldn't continue to operate without this fund drive."
In previous years each organization received about $1,500. The organizations are:
American Heart Association
American Red Cross
Boy Scouts
Council on Aging
Salvation Army
Elderly Peer
Girl Scouts
Mid-Sioux Opportunity Inc.
Centers Against Abuse and Sexual Assault
Bright Beginnings Day Care
Associated Charities
In conjunction with the drive, Hot Dog Days will be held in communities throughout Cherokee County, beginning at 4 p.m. at the following dates and locations:
Quimby-Monday, Oct. 6
Washta-Tuesday, Oct. 7
Marcus-Wednesday, Oct. 8
Cleghorn-Thursday, Oct 9
Larrabee-Friday, Oct 10
Meriden-Monday, Oct. 13
Aurelia-Wednesday, Oct. 15
No door-to-door stops will be made this year, according to Stubbe.
Contributions may be dropped off at any Cherokee County Bank of Financial institution. Also, contributions may be sent to Cherokee County Fund, P.O. Box 21, Cherokee IA 51012.
