HOLSTEIN - The Galva-Holstein volleyball team swept all four opponents in pool play of the 2008 Western Valley Conference Tournament here on Saturday Sept. 27.
The Pirates defeated Remsen-Union 21-13, 21-9; Lawton-Bronson 21-9, 21-6; Kingsley-Pierson 22-20, 21-12; and Woodbury Central 19-21, 21-9, 15-13.
G-H was 120-148 in team hitting for the day, with 72 kills. The team served 168-180 for 93 percent and 26 aces, talllied 191 digs, 69 assists, and 29 blocks at net.
Kill leaders were Heather Joslin with 20, and Lindsey Joslin 16. Lanae Broesder paced the Pirates in assists with 65. Dig leaders were Ashley Buell with 55, Lindsey Joslin 42, and Heather Joslin 34.
Brandi Wagoner led her team in blocks with 14, and Brooke Wiese totaled nine. Ace serve leaders were Heather Joslin 11, and Wagoner five.
"Our serving was consistent today, which put some teams on the defensive," said G-H coach Scott Mitchell. "We were able to get a l ot of free balls and get into our offense. We did block well at times throughout the day. We will need to do that to be successful."
Galva-Holstein now sports a match record of 15-6 this season.
