Council approves Marcus projects

Thursday, October 9, 2008

MARCUS - The Marcus City Council held two special meetings within a week to deal with the sale of some real estate in the new Business Park. They also approved the paving of Eagle Street, which is the last street to be paved in the park.

Alliance of Orange City was approved to do the job at a cost if $84,452, which was $4,000 under the other bid. Work should begin within the week. which also includes the sub-grading.

The council also approved of fixing the sidewalk in front of Marcus Auto as the curb needs to be brought up and made even with the rest of the sidewalk so no one will slip and fall in bad weather.

Other maintenance work approved was the painting around the windows and door of the American Legion building. Mayor Darrell Downs commented that he is still waiting for a second bid on the blasting and painting of the local swimming pool.

Another project to be done is the cleaning of the three water filters in the median, which is expected to cost around $8,000 per filter..
