Sophomore Jay Welp led the way as three Eagles finished among the top 20 runners. Welp, who Eagle coach Ric Collins said "is very consistent for a sophomore," turned in a strong 17:17 time for a 4th place finish in the 5000 meter race. Eagle freshman Jacob Pearson ran a 19:15 to place 15th and junior Tyler Brady's 19:30 earned him 18th place.
The Eagle JV boys did very well, too, as Tyrel Godberson's time of 20:53 and Gregor Pritzlaff's 21:06 earned them the top two spots among JV runners. Dustin Beck and David Peters, said Collins, also "pushed for good times" running for the JV.
In the girls' competition, freshman Jeri Welp earned a 3rd place JV medal with her 22:23 time, and Taryn Godberson (23:34), Danica Hanson (25:40) and Jill Addison also ran well. Coach Collins said that Christina Wilkens and Taylor Hanson missed the meet and he hopes to have them back soon as the War Eagle Conference meet approaches.
The WEC Meet will take place Monday, October 13th, on the Marcus Golf Course. Collins said his team's focus is "for our best races yet."
