Gehlen shuts out RV Wolverines

CORRECTIONVILLE - Jordan Sitzmann rushed for two touchdowns, and quarterback Taylor Wurth passed for two more to lead Le Mars Gehlen to a 34-0 conquest of River Valley here on Oct. 10.

A tough Gehlen defense limited River Valley to just 126 total yards of offense in the game, as the Wolverines rushed 33 times for 94 yards, and River Valley quarterback Zack Hullinger completed 3-9 passes for 32 yards.

Cody Paris paced the Wolverine rushing attack with 16 carries for 73 yards, while Sam Lundt carried nine times for 26 yards, and Hullinger seven times for 10 yards.

For the visiting Jays, Sitzmann had 16 carries for 81 yards and two TDs, Wurth 12 carries for 53 yards, Trevor Bouma five hauls for 37 yards, and Cody Campbell four carries for 15 yards. Wurth was 8-15 passing for 144 yards and two TDs, and the Jays rushed 37 times for 186 yards.

Austin Hansen, Anthony Volkert, and Andrew Volkert caught passes for River Valley.

Ethan Todd led the busy Wolverine defenders with nine tackles, followed by Paris with eight, Lundt seven, Andrew Volkert and Billy Pansegrau six apiece, Anthony Volkert five, and Tyrel McCrea four.

Gehlen totaled 19 first downs compared to eight for the host Wolverines.

Cole Heissel led Le Mars Gehlen on defense with 12 tackles, while Campbell had 10, Drew Kellen eight, and Micah Neary seven.
