New Turkey Farm opens

The Cherokee Farm Bureau hosted an Open House for the newly-constructed Parker Turkey Farm on October 9. Many area residents, plus representatives from the Iowa Turkey Federation, Sara Lee Foods, and the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation, came out to show their support for the new family farm.

The farm has five 55' x 650' buildings, and will house 11,500 turkeys per building. Farm owner Rod Parker was on hand, along with the Cherokee County Pork Producers, to grill out and welcome guests to the Open House held at the farm , located south of Cherokee. Photos by Mike Leckband
