Amber Bauer led the Wolverine servers at O-A, hitting a perfect 17-17 with two aces, followed by Andrea Nelson, 16-16; Kari Luvigson, 15-15 with three aces; and Charlee Brewer, 11-14 with two aces.
Brewer also led her team in digs with 22, while Nelson tallied 17 and Ludvigson 11. Nelson led in sets with 26 ace sets.
"We started out strong in the first game," said River Valley coach Marlene Baumann. "Then we fell apart for the next three games. We need to work on our focus!"
In the 3-0 sweep of BCIG, Emily Todd returned to the team after a pre-season knee injury to lead in serving with a 13-15 effort and seven aces. Brewer was 12-13 with three aces, Nelson 11-12 with an ace, Richey 7-8 with an ace, and Bauer 6-6 with two aces.
Bauer paced the Wolverines in attacks with 29-32 and nine kills, followed by Johnson 21-21 with eight kills, Richey 18-22 with seven kills, and Ludvigson 14-16 with five kills. Johnson and Richey each totaled two blocks.
"Tonight everything came together," said coach Baumann. "We had a lot of fun. Emily Todd played for the first time tonight. Her role was that of server. Everyone supported everyone else. It was fun to watch."
It was also Seniors/Parents Night, with five talented players graduate from this year's squad- Todd, Nelson, Bauer, Richey, and Brewer.
River Valley begins District competition Wednesday Oct. 22, playing arch-rival Galva-Holstein in Holstein.
