Robert L. Redman, 76, of Knoxville, Iowa - originally from Cherokee - passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 at the Kavanaugh House in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday on Oct. 24 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Ray Kruger officiated. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee., with military rites at the graveside by L. A. Wescott Post #2253 of the V.F.W.
Robert was born Aug. 7, 1932 in Cherokee to Lloyd and Bertha (Krout) Redman. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1950. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U. S. Army from November of 1952, and was discharged as a Specialist 5 on Oct. 31, 1960. He received the Purple Heart Award. He worked for Wilson Trucking in Minneapolis for a few years, and had lived in Knoxville, Iowa for over 20 years at the time of his death. He enjoyed watching football.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by two sisters: Jennifer B. Correa and her husband Fabian of Colona, Ill., and JoAnn Mowery of Rock Island, Ill.; one niece, Danielle Carter and her husband Gerald of Colona, Ill.; and one nephew, Michael Terronez of Colona, Ill
