Lady Pirates beat BC-IG, 3-0

IDA GROVE - The 14th-ranked Galva-Holstein Lady Pirates' volleyball team concluded their Western Valley Conference schedule in Oct. 16th action here with a 25-17, 25-17, 25-13 victory over Battle Creek-Ida Grove.

Heather Joslin led the Lady Pirates' attack with 14 kills and was joined by Heidi Rollefson with nine; Lanae Broesder had 39 assists; Heather Joslin and Ashley Buell 24 digs apiece; Heather Joslin, eight ace serves; and Rollefson and Victoria Andresen, three blocks each.

Galva-Holstein coach Scott Mitchell said, "we had some trouble passing in the first two games, which hurt our offense."

Mitchell summarized the contest by saying, "BCIG did a good job of blocking our hitters,(but) we served pretty well, keeping them out of their offense."

Galva-Holstein wound up with an 8-1 conference mark, and had a 20-7 season record, heading into a weekend tournament at Bishop Heelan in Sioux City.They begin Regional Tournament play at Holstein on Oct. 22nd, when they face off against conference rival River Valley.
