The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce Tourism Advisory Board has announced the next grant application period for tourism events.
Interested local individuals or organizations have until November 15 to fill out the application to receive tourism funds for their projects designed to run anytime between January 1, 2009, and July 1, 2009.
Applications may be picked up at the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce office Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and noon, and 2:30-5 p.m.
Tourism can be defined as incremental business coming to Cherokee. That is, people coming to Cherokee who would not be coming for another reason and spending money on food, lodging, gas, and retail purchases.
The goal of this grant program is to help bring people to town. It is designed to help make sure that an event or project will be successful and continue to grow.
One more reminder: Those interested have until November 15 to turn in a grant application for an event that will be staged between January 1 and July 1, 2009, that will attract people to Cherokee.
