The Cherokee County Board Supervisors met for their regular meeting on October 23.
County Engineer Dave Shanahan presented an overhead utility permit, driveway permits, updated driveway/field entrance prices, and two bridge projects for approval.
The Board approved an overhead utility permit for Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative between Section 16 and Section 17 in Grand Meadow Township.
The Board then approved the 41 entrance permits as presented.
Also, the Board approved the updated driveway/field entrance prices effective 10/21/08.
Shanahan reviewed a request from the Powder Players for a winter snowmobile route within Cherokee County and the route was approved as presented.
Also approved was a contract for the bridge project in Silver Twp and the bridge project at 510th Street and O Ave.
Dave Scott, Sheriff, and Dave Skou, E911 Director, addressed the board regarding an employment issue with Dave Skou requesting a closed session.
At 9:45 a.m. the Board went into a closed session per Iowa code 21.5(i) "To evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual's reputation and that individual requests a closed session."
No decisions were made as a result of the closed session.
The Board then approved a tax suspension for Glenice and George Koth per Department of Human Services property tax relief regulations. The County Treasurer will be notified to suspend taxes on this property.
