Spirit Lake Park squads win District XC

O'Bryan paces Cherokee runners

OKOBOJI - Host Spirit Lake Park swept both the boys and girls team titles of the Class 2A District Cross Country Meet here on Oct. 30th, the SLP boys scoring 53 points, and the girls 51 to each qualify for the State Co-ed Meet Saturday at Fort Dodge, along with the second- and third-place teams.

Hull Western Christian was second in the boys division with 77 points, followed by Orange City Unity Christian 103, Sioux Center 125, Okoboji 158, Maple Valley/Anthon-Oto 163, Sheldon 182, North Iowa of Buffalo Center 194, Woodbury Central 257, Cherokee 260, Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley 261, George-Little Rock/Central Lyon, 277, Pocahontas Area 297, Sibley-Ocheyedan and Schaller-Crestland (NA).

Unity Christian was runner-up in the girls division with 57 points, followed by Sioux Center 118, Sheldon 137, Pocahontas Area 147, G-LR/CL 153, North Iowa/BC 165, HWC 191, MVAO 222, Okoboji 249, S-O 296, Cherokee 365, S-C, BH/RV, WC (NA).

Nate O'Bryan led the Cherokee boys to the finish line, placing 24th in 17:38, followed by Nick O'Bryan 39th in 18:09, Zach Mosbach 53rd in 18:52, Kody Sump 72nd in 20:10, Calvin Conley 81st in 20:44, Cole Renken 79th in 20:38, and John Bieber 84th in 20:55.

Chyenne Mortenson led the Cherokee girls, placing 55th in 18:40, while Katy Hart was 79th in 21:)3, Amanda Kohn 80th in 21:08, Whitney Axiotis 82nd in 21:37, and Abby Hayes 85th in 23:05.
