James Donald Hand, 75, of Morning Sun, Iowa, died on Sept. 27, 2008 at the Morning Sun Care Center.
James was born on Aug. 23, 1933 in Burlington, Iowa to Raymond and Ruth Louise Wery Hand. He married Betty Marsh in 1964 in Burlington, and they later divorced.
James was a construction carpenter and roofer for 41 years. He was a Shriner and enjoyed playing darts, pool, cards, watching NASCAR and the Washington Redskins football team. James was a member of the First Congregational Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his former wife, Betty Marsh of Burlington; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Rodrigues and Pattie Hand, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, Tim Alan Hand of Blair, Neb., and Tony Wayne Hand of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Karen Sue (Larry) Drain of Mediapolis, and Joan Forcier of Cherokee; one brother, Jerry Allen Turmbo of West Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside ash committal services for James Danald Hand were held on Sept. 30, at the Aspen Grove Cemetery. Rev. Frank Beaty officiated.
