Schuett named to second team

DES MOINES - Cherokee's record-setting senior quarterback Tyler Jones leads a small contingent of area players earning Iowa Newspaper Association All-State Football honors in their respective classes this season.

Jones is Iowa's prep career record holder for touchdown passes (81), passing yardage (9,144), completions (756), single season completions (287), and single game completions (42).

Jones was named to the Class 2A first team, and his teammate, senior Kyle Schuett, earned a second-team INA All-State berth as a defensive back.

In Class A, River Valley junior Austin Hansen was named to the second team offense as a wide receiver.

Also in Class A, Alta landed senior offensive lineman Andrew Allerdings to the first team offense, senior defensive back Michael Husman to the first team defense, senior running back Jack Mills to the third team offense, and senior defensive lineman Jake Syndergaard to the third team defense.
