The Sanford Museum is accepting entries for the 2009 "Beauty of Northwest Iowa" photo contest.
There is no age limit for the contest. This year's contest will have two categories, both professional and amateur entries will be accepted.
Entries must be original photos, taken by the entrant. The photos must be 8 x 10 inches in size and all photos are to be "loose,' no mats, frames allowed.
All photos must be taken in Northwest Iowa and all entries must be suitable for display, no bends, fold, wrinkles, curls or smears.
All photos must be labeled on the back with title, name, phone number and address. Entries can be rejected for any reason.
Awards for the Professional Category are: first place - $100, second place - $50, and third place - $25. Awards for the Amateur Category are: first place - $100, second place - $50, and third place - $25.
All perspective contestants must complete the pre-register form by Dec. 10 (you can pick up the form at the museum). All entries must be delivered to the Sanford Museum during the week of Dec. 22 through Dec. 30.
All photos will be on display at the Sanford Museum from Jan. 6 through Feb. 6.
On Jan. 10, there will be a gallery talk from the judge and there will be an artists' reception and awards will be given out at this time. All photos must be picked up at the museum during the week of Feb. 9 through the Feb. 16.
The museum will be taking one or two photos that the artist feels demonstrates the beauty of Northwest Iowa.
