Headlines holds 'Grand Opening'

Friday, December 5, 2008

Headlines Hair and Nail Salon held an all-day Grand Opening celebration on Friday Dec. 5th. The salon was owned by Barb Schuck and Cherie Winterboer for 21 years, until March 31, 2008, when the business and the building, located at 115 East Main Street, were purchased by their fellow stylist Ivy Sivinski.

Sivinski, who has done some re-decorating at the shop and added a pedicure area, which she said provides an especially nice and comfortable area for customers seeking that service, said that Friday's event is a celebration of the transfer of ownership, as well as a celebration of the Christmas season.

Headlines is a "full hair and nail salon," offering cuts, coloring, pedicures, manicures, artificial nails and retail hair products.

Sivinski, who lives in Cherokee with her fiance Steven Doeden and two daughters, 5-year-old DeLani and 5 month-old Deidra, has been employed at Headlines for two years now, and she is one of four stylists at the salon, along with Merry Peterson, a long-time member of the Headlines team, and former owners Barb Schuck and Cherie Winterboer.

Headlines is from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., and on Friday throughout the day, there were "stocking stuffers," available, as well as gift certificates of any amount, and great savings on retail hair products.

A drawing for a gift basket, valued at $100, also took place at the end of the day, so customers were invited to stop in any time and sign up for that. Ivy assured people that "you don't have to be present to win."
