Christmas Parade simply wonderful

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

We stand and applaud all the hearty, creative souls who participated in Cherokee's "Wonderful World of Christmas Parade" on Dec. 4th in beautiful Downtown Cherokee.

With freezing temperatures hovering in the low teens and a brisk north wind, the 10th annual Parade still attracted 38 beautiful lighted floats and/or vehicles (and some colorful participants!), along with hundreds of appreciative onlookers to Downtown Cherokee's designated Entertainment & Cultural District.

Sponsored by the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce Promotions Team, the annual Parade serves to kick off the Christmas Season and is always a stunning event as it merrily weaves its way down scenic Main Street.

We heartily endorse and congratulate the award winners as selected by the judges - The Cherokee Mental Health Institute's fabulous "Christmas in Toyland," which earned first place in the Non-Profit category; the Cherokee Regional Medical center's impressive "The Grinch," which earned second place; and Cherokee Washington High School's clever "Twas The Night Before Exams," which placed third.

In the Business category, we salute the winning Northwest Realty's "Snowmen at Play;" Valley Bank & Trust's "Mele Kalikimaka," which earned second place; and Northstar Community Credit Union's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," which placed third.

To all the participants, thank you for all the hard work and dedication it requires to sponsor a Parade float, and thank you to the Chamber of Commerce and the creative minds and understanding bosses and employees it takes to pull it all off so brilliantly year after year.

Our "Wonderful World of Christmas Parade" is one more shining jewel in the crown that makes this community so special.
