Kara Nelson MVP at Morningside

SIOUX CITY - Kara Nelson, a sophomore from Cherokee, and Brian Gesink, a sophomore from Sioux Center, received the Most Valuable Runner awards at the recent post-season banquet of Morningside College's men's and women's cross country teams.

Gesink qualified for this year's NAIA Cross Country Championships with a 15th place finish at the 2008 Conference Championships, while Nelson, the daughter of Jim and Sue Nelson of Cherokee, finished 45th in the women's division at this year's NAIA Championships. She qualified for the Nationals by placing third in the GPAC Conference Championships.
