Coaches with the storied Cherokee Braves baseball program will host a baseball camp for athletes from 6th grade through 12th grade on Sunday, Dec. 28th.
There are two sessions, one for hitting instruction
and one for pitching. The cost is $20 per session or $35 for both sessions. Each participant will receive a new baseball.
The camp will run from 1-5 p.m. with grades 6-8 participants pitching from 1-2:30 p.m. at Cherokee Washington High School, and grades 9-12 working on hitting at the former Harley Davidson building on North second Street.
Then at 2:45 p.m. the 6-8 graders will hit at the
Harley Davidson location and the 9-12 graders will pitch at WHS.
The camp will conclude with a question/answer session at WHS from 4:30-5 p.m.
The camp instructors include Steve Sonka, Cherokee and Buena Vista University assistant coach; former Sioux City Explorer player and manager Jay Kirkpatrick, owner and operator of Swing Surgeon Hitting School; Scott Koch
veteran head baseball coach at Cherokee; and a number of former area high school players who are now playing at the college level.
