Aurelia girls fall to Spalding, 54-28

AURELIA - The Aurelia Bulldog girls trailed by just five points at the half in non-conference girls' basketball action against Granville Spalding Catholic here on Dec. 18th, but were outscored 11-4 in the third quarter, and wound up losing the game, 54-28.

Meghan Glawe led the Bulldogs with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and also blocked two shots for Coach Tim Galvin's squad. Kayla Bruns grabbed seven rebounds, and Erin Laursen snagged six to go along with her team-high four assists. Bruns also led in steals with three.

Aurelia cashed in 7-12 free throws, and Spalding netted 4-14. Both teams were whistled for 15 fouls each. The winners also made six three-point shots compared to one by the Bulldogs.

Spalding had three girls score in double figures - Anna Schroeder with 18, Laura Jongers with 12 and Brianna Konz with 10.

The Bulldog boys and girls games against Storm Lake St. Mary's in Aurelia was postponed Friday night due to inclement weather, and there will be no more games until after the Christmas break.
