William "Bill" M. Poulson, 77, formerly of Alta, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a long illness. Services and burial will be at a later date in the Scandinavian Cemetery. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family. Online condolences may be directed to www.teahenfuneralhome.com.

William Martin Poulson was born July 22, 1931 in Alta son of Verner "Vern" and Vera C. Heath Poulson. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Vivian Jean McAfee, on July 19, 1958. Bill worked for Wilson Packing Plant, Cherokee for 21 years, where he was a proud member of UFCW Local #179.

Bill will be remembered as being handy and a jack-of-all-trades. He loved fishing and camping in Ortonville, Minn. and his cats. Grandchildren and friends were very important to him, especially, "Big Ben." Bill's wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; a son, Michael Larson; his parents; and a brother, James Poulson. Two daughters, Holly Siefken of Marion and Carol Hansohn of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Tim and Jeff Hansohn and Steven and Brittany Larson; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren survive Bill.
