Robert W. "Bob" Booth, 85 of rural Aurelia, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at the Cherokee Villa Nursing & Rehab Center.
Funeral services were held on Jan. 17 at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Pastor Alan Dean of Living Word Outreach Ministries of Spencer officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia, Iowa. There were military rites at the cemetery.
Bob was born May 14, 1923 in Aurelia to William and Pearl (Hines) Booth. He attended country school, and received his G.E.D. while in the U. S. Navy. He was a veteran of World War II. He was married to Charlene Shultz on Aug. 8, 1948 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. He had farmed and lived in the Aurelia area all his life. He enjoyed drinking coffee at the kitchen table with friends and neighbors. He loved horses and enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. He was a member of the American Legion at Aurelia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on Jan. 17, 1987; a sister, Midge Holman; a brother, Jerry Booth and a brother in infancy.
He is survived by one son and one daughter: Brad Booth and his wife Sheree of Aurelia and Becky Menke of Spencer; three grandchildren: Allan Booth and his wife Trisha and Adam Booth and his wife Katie, both of Cherokee; and Melissa Muckey and her husband Luke of Spencer; six great-granddaughters: Halee, Grace and Abby Booth; Autumn and Allison Booth; Maddy Muckey.
