MMC wins wrestling double dual

Eagles beat Cherokee, AGHSC squads

The talented Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn wrestler won both of their matches at the Jan. 15 double dual in Cherokee, also featuring the Braves and Aurelia/Galva-Holstein/Schaller-Crestland (AGHSC).

The high-flying Eagles beat Cherokee 47-18, and topped AGHSC 43-25 to win the double dual. Cherokee defeated AGHSC 39-32 to finish 1-1 for the night.

Double pin winners for MMC included Jacob Pearson at 145 pounds, and Dillon Mugge at 215. Double winners for the Eagles were Russ Godbersen at 152, Jerad Letsche at 160, and Blaine Dammann at 171. Tyler Pearson (125), Taylor Coombs (130), Dammann, Jacob Lehnhoff (140), and Jordan Petersen (189) each had a pin for the Eagles.

Tyler Kenny was a twin pin winner for AGHSC at 135 pounds. Ryan Donahoo was a double winner for the Stonecutters, winning one by fall at 130, as was teammate Vance Kreutz at 119. Donahoo recorded his 100th career victory Thursday night.

For Cherokee, Zac Anderson at 135, Tyson English at 140, Tyler Lundsgaard at 171, and Dillon Devitt at 189 resgistered falls. The young Braves had no double winners.

In JC action, Cherokee's Dan Bieber won 8-3 over Chad Borchers of AGHSC at 171, and Nate Seliger won 7-2 over Alex Braulkman of MMC at 160.

The Braves host Lakes Conference foes Estherville-LC and Spencer in a tough double dual here Thursday night.
