REMSEN - The River Valley basketball teams ran into a tough foe on the road here last week, as Remsen-Union swept both boys and girls games, the R-U girls winning the opener 61-55, and the Rocket boys claiming the nightcap 65-53.
Balanced scoring was the name of the game for the River Valley girls, with Emily Todd leading the way with 13 points, while Charlee Brewer added 12, Kari Ludvigson 11, and Lexie Chester nine.
Todd racked up an impressive double-double for the Wolverines with 11 rebounds. Amber Bauer grabbed six boards, and Ludvigson led in assists with six, and Brewer tallied five. Bauer led in steals with four.
RV made 22-56 field goals for 39 percent, and cashed in 14-20 free throws.
Austin Hansen tossed in 21 points to lead the RV boys, while Anthony Volkert talllied 12, Ethan Todd nine, and Zach Hullinger eight.
Volkert also led the Wolverines in rebounds with 11 for a sweet double-double, and Todd grabbed seven boards. Sam Lundt led RV in assists with four, and Volkert and Todd led in steals with three apiece.
RV sank 26-60 field goals for 43 percent, and notched 6-9 free throws.
