Stonecutters compete in first WVC tourney

WOODBINE - The AGHSC Stonecutters traveled to Woodbine to compete in the first Western Valley Wrestling Conference Tournament on Jan. 17.

The Stonecutters competed well, finishing in 6th place out of the 11 teams.

Final team standings:

1. Logan-Magnolia, 213.5 points; 2. O-A/BC-IG, 213; 3. Woodbury Central, 173;

4. Lawton-Bronson, 154.5; 5. Woodbine,141.0; 6. AGHSC, 102.0; 7. West Monona, 99.5; 8. MV-AO, 98.0; 9.Kingsley-Pierson, 96.0 points; 10. West Harrison, 70;

11. Westwood, 58.0

AGHSC wrestlers and their final results:

#103 Ronnie Huseman (AGHSC) went 0-2 and didn't place

#112 Vance Kreutz (AGHSC) lost 15-0 to Brandon Chestnut (West Monona) to place 2nd.

#125 Ryan Donahoo (AGHSC) won by fall over Caleb Bush (KP) in 2:14 to place 5th.

#130 Tyler Kenny (AGHSC) lost by fall to Chad Richardson (LB) in 3:42 to place 6th

#140 Don Gebers(AGHSC) won by fall over Gavvon Shafer (Woodbine) in 1:53

to place 5th.

#152 Josh Schwanz(AGHSC) lost by decision to Sean Bainbridge(KP) 5-3 in overtime to place 4th

#160 Taylor Witzel(AGHSC) won by injury default over Clayton Michael(LoMa) to place 1st.

#171 Spencer Snyder(AGHSC) went 1-2 and didn't place

#189 Kevin Hernandez(AGHSC) went 0-2 and didn't place

#285 Logan Schafer(AGHSC) went 1-3 and placed 6th

AGHSC coach Scott Phelps said, "The kids are making progress, and defeated some tough wrestlers along the way. The tournament had a lot of good competition, which will help us down the road as we grow as wrestlers."
