Sergeant Bluff-Luton was third with 185 points, followed by Le Mars 134, Council Bluffs Abe Lincoln 128, Sioux City West 109.5, Denison-Schleswig 95, West Lyon 64, and Cherokee 61.
For Cherokee, Patrick Loughlin led the way, winning all three matches to take home first place at 160 pounds. Loghlin won by fall in :40 over Ben McCord of SB-L, beat Zahn Bose of S.C. West 16-1, and pinned Drey Keairnes of D-S in 5:14 in the finals.
Calvin Conley placed third for the Braves at 152, charting a 3-1 record for the day. He beat Brandon Baird of SB-L 15-0, lost 10-2 to Nolan Grieves of S.C. North, beat Cole Vanderhoe of Norfolk 11-8, and pinned Jason Van Ginkle of West Lyon in 1:42 in the consolation match.
Zac Anderson claimed fifth place for Cherokee, with a 2-2 record for the day. He pinned Blake Stevens of West Lyon in 1:11, lost by fall in :43 to Nick Kroth of Norfolk, lost by fall in 4:27 to Rene Van Whye of Le Mars, and pinned Kyle Mathies of D-S in 4:30.
Jack Letsche finished in sixth place for the Braves. He was pinned in 1:16 by Mitch Lieneman of Norfolk, won by default over Beau Lenzen of S.C. West, and lost by fall in 4:30 to Quinton Vore of Le Mars.
Teh Braves participated in the tournament, with those four placing. Cherokee is open in four weight divisions.
"We saw some great competition at the tourney," noted Cherokee coach Jason Wood. "We saw some good 3A teams. We continue to battle and improve with each match. Patrick had a great day. He came in as the #1 seed and proved why."
