HOLSTEIN - Heather Joslin broke loose for 26 points to lead the Galva-Holstein girls to a 64-46 victory over Westwood here on Jan. 20.
The Pirates rushed to an 18-4 lead in the first quarter and led 42-10 at halftime to salt the game away early.
Brooke Wiese added 12 points for the winners, Vistoria Andresen eight, and Alyssa Martin seven. Joslin also led in rebounds with 10, Andresen grabbed eight, and Breanna Mathes snagged five. Andresen also led her team in steals with five, and Joslin pocketed four. Brea Slaybaugh and Courtnie Voss led G-H in assists with three each.
The Pirates sank 28-67 field goals for 42 percent, and was 9-15 from the free throw line. Westwood made 20-54 shots for 37 percent, and was 6-10 from the charity stripe.
"We played the best half of the year in our win over Westwood," said a pleased G-H coach Ken Slater. "We controlled the game offensively and defensively. We were able to outscore them 42-10 in the first half, Our girls really executed the offense very well, as they were aggressive, took good shots, and rebounded very well. Heather had a double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds."
