Freshman Jackie Wilson led Cherokee with seven points, while Katie Sambrano and Shelby Dilla aded five each. Kelly Gerdeman led Spencer with 16 points.
Cherokee sank just 10-44 field goals for a frigid 23 percent, while the Tigers made a whopping 31-49 shots for a sizzling 63 percent. The Washington High gals netted 6-13 free throws, compared to Spencer's 7-15 from the line.
"They are talented and they strike quick," said Cherokee coach Abby James of the 11-0 Spencer club. "Our kids played hard and they play hard every game. Spencer's tough, but we didn't quit. Our young girls are showing improvement. Our seniors Misty and Shelby are doing a great job as leaders and staying positive."
Cherokee is playing without the services of two other senior leaders in Kelsie Peterson and Lynn Carlson, both out with injuries.
