Spencer wins Lakes wrestling title

SPENCER - Host Spencer captured the 2008-2009 Lakes Conference Wrestling Team Title here on Jan. 30, totaling 243 points to runner-up Sheldon-South O'Brien's 191.

Emmetsburg-AR was third with 190.5, one-half point behind SSO, followed by Storm Lake 176, Spirit Lake Park 148, Le Mars 117, Cherokee 71, Hull Western Christian 44.5, and Estherville-LC 38.

The Braves had eight wrestlers place in the top six, led by Patrick Loughlin fourth at 160 pounds, and Nick Keith fourth at 215.

Cherokee's Rick Weaver was fifth at 119, Zac Anderson fifth at 135, and Calvin Conley fifth at 152. Sixth-place finishes went to Jack Letsche at 125, Gabe Conley at 140, and Dustin Rosewall at 189.

Loughlin was 2-2 on the day, pinning Zach Dimmick of Le Mars in 1:59, losing 8-2 to Tanner Matthews of SSO, beating Brett Goldtrap of SLP 12-2, and losing 3-1 to Ben Seaman of Storm Lake.

Keith also was 2-2 in the meet, pinning Kelly Lind of Le Mars in 5:11, losing by fall to Tyler Kacmarynski of Spencer, pinning Trevor VanDenTop pf HWC in :53, and losing by fall to Jmes Granstra of SSO.

Weaver was 2-2, losing by fall to Dylan Bryce of SLP, pinning Palani Permeswaran of Le Mars in 3:53, losing 2-0 to DJ Todd of Spencer, nd pinning Matt Weir of EAR.

Anderson was 2-2, losing by fall to James Randall of Spencer in 3:29, pinning Rene VanWhye of Le Mars in 2:49, losing 13-3 to Jose Diaz of Storm Lake, and beating Jeff Tentinger of SSO 9-7.

Calvin Conley was 2-2, losing 8-2 to Kyle Westra of HWC, pinning Zach Reuter of Le Mars in 1:33, losing by fall to Knute Klinker of SSO in 3:50, and beating KJ Besch of Storm Lake 11-6.

Sixth-place finishers Letsche was 0-3 with a bye, Gabe Conley was 1-3, and Rosewall 2-3 in matches.
