MARCUS - Visiting West Sioux outscored the hard-luck Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn boys 18-7 in the third quarter, to abscond from a 27-23 halftime deficit on the way to a 61-52 victory here Tuesday night.
Over all, the Falcons outscored MMC 38-25 in the second half to get the War Eagle Conference win.
Jordan Boekhout paced the host Eagles with 22 points, and Jesse Kunzweiler added nine. Levi Driesen led West Sioux with 18 points, followed by Brandon Krebs 15, and Mitch Jasper 10.
The foul-plagued game showed MMC netting 13-23 free throw, and the Falcons making 20-31 as the teams combined to shoot 54 free throws.
"We played well in the first half, but they owned the third quarter," said MMC coach Pat Bird. "Our guys worked hard, but we will have to figure out more ways to put points on the board down the stretch, if we want to win close ball games."
