G-H Pirate boys beat NF Mustangs, 71-53

HOLSTEIN - The Galva-Holstein boys finished their regular season here on Feb. 9, beating Newell-Fonda in a non-conference contest, 71-53.

Taylor Nees led the G-H scoring, with 21 points, and rebounding, with 12 caroms, and also blocked two shots, had two steals, and dished out two assists. Mark Cronin scored 17 points and took eight rebounds off the glass; Isaiah Miller had 14 points and four rebounds; and point guard Jordan Else had 10 assists, along with two steals and seven points. Josh Winkel led NF's scoring with 14 points.

Pirates coach Bob Lee said he was "real proud of how our guys finished the season out tonight. We played as a team, and got contributions from a lot of guys. Our seniors have provided us leadership all year, and it's nice to win for them in their last regular season home game."

The Pirates finished their regular season with an 18-3 record, and were 7-2 in Western Valley Conference play. They will play Whiting on Thursday, Feb. 19 at Holstein, in their first game of the Class 1A District 3 tournament.
