G-H boys beat Whiting in tourney

HOLSTEIN - Galva-Holstein led all the way as the Pirates beat Whiting 61-48 in Class 1A District Tournament action here on Feb.19.

Isaiah Miller scored 19 points to lead the 19-3 Pirates of Coach Bob Lee, and Kellen Jacobson was also in double figures, with 10 points. Cole Egger added nine points for the winners.

Taylor Nees led G-H on the glass with nine rebounds, while Jacobson and John Harris grabbed five apiece. Jordan Else led the Pirates in assists with five, and Mark Cronin led in steals with four.

G-H sank 28-69 field gooals for 41 percent, and cashed in 9-13 free throws.

The Pirates will host River Valley, overtime winners over Woodbury Central, in the District semifinal on Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. The Western Valley Conference rivals have tangled three times previously this season, with the Pirates winning all three by an average of 14 points.
