RV wins on late three-ball, 53-52

Will meet G-H for 4th time Tuesday

MOVILLE - The River Valley boys advanced in the Class 1A District Tournament with a thrilling one-point victory here on Feb. 19.

Samuel Lundt hit a three-pointer with five seconds left in the game to give the 12-7 Wolverines a 53-52 victory over Western Valley Conference foe Woodbury Central.

Anthony Volkert had a double-double for RV, as the senior continued his excellent recent play with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Lundt added 12 points, including the big three-ball at the end, and Austin Hansen scored 11. Ethan Todd also had a good night, scoring nine points and grabbing 11 rebounds, and Zach Hullinger dished out four assists.

Lundt also led in assists with five, and Hansen led in steals with three.

The Wolverines sank 23-59 field goals for 39 percent, including a 5-16 effort from the three-point line. RV netted 12-17 free throws.

Wolverine coach Dean Norris was really pleased with his team's effort. Norris sid, "As evidenced by the stat line, we continue to play very good team basketball, with different guys leading in different categories each night."

River Valley now moves on in the tournament, and will face another Western Valley Conference rival, Galva-Holstein, for the fourth time this season, on Feb. 24th at 7 p.m. in Holstein.
