The Cherokee County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday Feb.17 with Community Services Director Lisa Langlitz to discuss budget items for her department's 2009/2010 fiscal year.
They also discussed a preliminary draft of changes that are to be made in her department appeals process.
The Board then met with County Treasurer Hedgie Brandt to review Resolution #2009-3, regarding the county's investment policy.
The Board also met with County Engineer Dave Shanahan and Larry Walker of the Secondary Roads Department about the purchase of three new trucks and one excavator. After going through warranty options and cost differences, the Board approved the purchase of all four vehicles. They agreed to purchase two Mack trucks and one International, plus the excavator for the combined price of $368,000 - $270,000 for the trucks and $98,000 for the excavator.
The excavator will come from the 2008/2009 budget and the trucks will be budgeted for the 2009/2010 fiscal year.
The Board granted approval for Chairman Simonsen to sign the Knife River Contract and contractor's bond to begin the overlay work for the River Road project from C-14 to L-51.
