Letsche posts shiny 40-5 record, Godbersen 39-4
DES MOINES - Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn senior Jerad Letsche placed fifth at 152 pounds, and his teammate Russ Godbersen finished sixth at 145 pounds at last week's Iowa State Class 1A Wrestling Tournament here.

Letsche and Godbersen won their first two matches at State on Wednesday and Thursday, but lost Firday afternoon to end up in the consolation brackets.
Letsche, a senior (40-5), beat sophomore Tyler Ogburn (36-17) of Corning
13-5 in hs first match at 152 pounds Wednesday. He then beat senior Kolton Kersten (38-9) of Logan-Magnolia 6-2 Thursday night in the championship quarterfinals, before losing 4-3 in a thrilling semifinal match Friday to eventual runner-up Andrew Anthofer (48-3) of Coon Rapids-Bayard.

Later Friday, Letsche was pinned in 3:21 by junior Will Hansen (39-7) of Waterloo Columbus in the consolation semifinals, and then beat Sean Bainbridge (36-15) of Kingsley-Pierson 11-5 for fifth place on Saturday.
Godbersen, a junior (39-4), beat junior Tim Maroney (37-8) of East Buchanan Winthrop 8-0 at 145 pounds in his opening match Wednesday. He beat senior Jesse Brown (39-5) of Nashua Plainfield 3-0 in Thursday night's championship quarterfinals, before falling in a hotly contested semifinal match 8-6 in overtime Friday to eventual runner-up senior Joseph Atwell (47-3) of Panorama Panora.
Godbersen then lost 8-7 to Maroney in the consolation semifinals Friday, and dropped Saturday's consolation match 8-3 to Michael Jensen (41-6) of Graettinger-Terril to place sixth.

Clay Welter (34-1) of Gilbertville Don Bosco beat Anthofer 5-2 to win the 152-pound title Saturday night, while Dimitri Boyer (48-0) of Eddyville- Blakesburg beat Atwell 12-3 to claim the 145-pound title.
