Approximately 45 Cherokee County residents, who spend their winter months in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, attended a monthly gathering at "Jose's Cafecito Courtyard" at the Historic Villa de Cortez in beautiful downtown Weslaco, Texas Feb 18th. Folks from nearly all Cherokee County towns, and a few expatriates, gathered for a noon smorgasbord, visiting, and general enjoyment. Following the meal everyone gathered in the courtyard for a group photo. Among those in attendance were George and Karyn Engebretson, Rusty and Doris Grashoff, Al and Milly Kleihauer, Gus and Janet Kai, Richard and Sally Henke, Lee and Marilyn Anderson, Jim and Joan Schiedel, Harvey and Edna Batten, Gary and Shirley Ruge, Ray and Merry Strand, Dean and Bev Petersen, Ray and Peggy Wilberding, John and Marilyn Storbeck, Howard and Beth Rupp, Lori La Fave, Marvin and Carol Peterson, Alice and Lu Verne Nelson, Floyd and Evelyn Reinert, Don and Dee Smith, Jerry and Jeanette Hohbach, Ron and Donna Mortenson, Jim and Esther Nelson, La Vern Birch, and Gerald Lundquist.
